A place belongs forever to whoever claims it hardest, remembers it most obsessively, wrenches it from itself, shapes it, renders it, loves it so radically that he remakes it in his own image. -Joan Didion
I think the same applies to people.
Phew! That was a close one, I almost let my little piece of the Internet die!
Anyways, thanks for having me, it’s good to be back.
I wish I had a really good reason to explain my absence… oh wait, I do. I GOT A JOB!
About a month ago, I bid a tearful goodbye to YourTango and a not-so-tearful farewell to Starbucks (OK so maybe I cry when I think about no more free coffee) and started at Wahanda . My official title here is “copywriter”, but I do everything from managing our Twitter and Facebook pages, to newsletters, PR, marketing, and last but not least, writing site content. Wahanda just expanded from the UK so it’s still a newborn in the US. Needless to say, I’ve been a bit busy.
I’m really excited about this, not just because I’ve wanted a job for I don’t know… A YEAR, but because I really think Wahanda will take off. I actually believe in what we’re trying to do. Crazy, right?
So in case you haven’t been paying attention, I’ll recap for you. I left my beloved internship behind, quit Starbucks, and got a legitimate job in the span of one week. Woah!
And if that wasn’t exciting enough, my dear old Dad got his job back in the same week after having been unemployed since November. My parents also successfully abandoned — I mean moved out of — our old house and into a new one. As much as I hate to admit it, the new house is really nice.
It’s kind of funny how things always seem to get really bad right before they get good. Remind me of that next time, will you?
